This development replaces the traditional concept of ‘Locating the garden within the residence’ with ‘Locating the residence within the park’ The major north-south axis is intersected by a belt-shaped open garden plaza that provides access to all the units and various themed greenspaces. All the walkways, gardens and plazas are richly adorned with water features originating from the Zhongshan Park. To maintain the park feeling, vehicles get immediate access to underground parking, for noise reduction and pedestrian safety. The housing units were designed according to most advanced North American sustainable design concepts, and large water surface area is used for fire protection. By using solar energy for water heating and increasing cross-ventilation through strategic orientation, a 70% energy reduction was achieved.
